Minimal changes were applied to the F-150 as it graduated from the 2022 to 2023 model year, but there are some noteworthy differences, such as a new package for 2023, which we’ll cover below.
All three years are a part of the F-150 truck’s 14th generation, and the 2022 and 2023 models earned a spot as America’s Best-Selling Vehicle for their respective years.1 The 2024 F-150 is fresh on the scene, and we’re sure it will join the other models with that lauded best-seller status. The 2022 Ford F-150 was an exciting chapter in the model’s history. The all-electric F-150 Lightning debuted, more packages were made available to truck enthusiasts, and new exterior colors like Atlas Blue were added to the roster, too.
For the 2023 model, this was paralleled by the complete opposite of the gas-free F-150 Lightning: the F-150 Raptor R with its wild supercharged V-8 and the FP700 package that lets you supercharge most 14th-generation F-150 models.

Speaking broadly, standard and available features between these model years are nearly identical, too. With the only major difference being the availability of a Rattler off-road package for the 2023 F-150 XL, you can think of the 2022 model year as a better choice for value, since it is only available used, and the 2023 model year as a way to have its benefits with that new truck smell, or as a less-traveled used model.

As one would expect from a model refresh, the new Ford F-150 for sale for 2024 brings in several desirable differences and upgrades over the outgoing 2023 F-150. Towing capability has taken a hit slightly, though the 500-pound decrease in its maximum capacity balances out with the more powerful standard 2.7-liter engine.
Of special note, that now-standard 2.7-liter V-6 delivers more horsepower and highway efficiency than the previous standard V-6, and the PowerBoost V-6 with 4WD delivers better highway MPG than last year.3 With that said, similarities like an identical set of cab/box configurations remain, though further differences like a newly standard Lane-Keeping System can be found, along with the new STX trim level (which was previously a package that went over existing trim levels).
